Democracy is under siege in America, and HR 22 is the latest weapon in the GOP’s all-out war against voting rights. This bill, which disproportionately targets women who change their names after marriage, naturalized citizens, and communities of color, is nothing less than a blatant, fascist attack on our fundamental rights. And yet — where is the Democratic Party’s fire? Where is the bold, unwavering resistance that this moment demands?
Time and again, we watch Republicans push extreme, anti-democratic and outright fascist policies with ruthless efficiency. They don’t hesitate, they don’t compromise: they steamroll. Meanwhile, Democratic leadership offers little more than sternly worded statements and guacamole recipes. This is not a time for compromise — it’s a time for ACTION.
While Trump, Elon Musk, and the GOP gleefully dismantle democracy, the rule of law, and constitutional protections, Democratic leaders seem to believe we’re still operating in a world of good-faith debates and procedural norms. But the rules of engagement have changed. The other side is playing to win — by any means necessary. We saw a hint of the heinous acts they’re capable of on January 6th.
